Welcome to our preview of AC Milan’s home game against Fiorentina. The Florence team were backed as a possible European challenger this term, and have lived up to expectation, whereas Milan, one of Italian football’s aristocrats, are having a disastrous campaign, having lost four league games already.

Team and Selection News

Fiorentina are likely to be without two of their most accomplished players for this fixture, with Massimo Ambrosini and Mario Gomez both set to be ruled out due to injury. Likewise, Fabio Quagliarella and Mirko Vucinic may be missing for the visitors, as AC Milan attempt to close the gap at the top to leaders Roma.

It was thought at the start of this campaign that AC Milan would be among the top teams in Serie A but they have been disappointing. Their chance of winning the league might be gone already with AS Roma keeping up their current form, having won nine out of nine and conceded just one goal. There will be a lot of pressure here for AC Milan to pick up three points and keep alive their aspirations, but Fiorentina are a capable side. The Florence-based outfit  are performaing really well this season, and even without a couple of their absolute best players, and I think Fiorentina will ultimately pick up a narrow victory, and put more pressure on AC Milan.
