Welcome to our Brazil vs Colombia predictions, head to head and preview for the 2014 World Cup Quarter-finals. Brazil is the host nation and they seem determined to win this tournament, and apart from the last match, they appear to be getting favourable treatment from the on field officials. Colombia are one of the surprises of the World Cup. They have never progressed beyond the Round of 16 in the past, so this is new territory for them.

Recent Form

Brazil have won 3 and drawn two of their last five matches. The first one was a friendly against Serbia which they won 1-0. Since then they have won two matches and drawn two matches.

Colombia have won all their last five matches. The earliest of these was a friendly against Jordan who they beat 3-0. They have won all their matches so far at this Wold Cup.

Road to Glory

As the home team Brazil didn’t have to play any qualification matches. They were impressive in the friendlies before the Wold Cup, but haven’t looked as classy since at the actual World Cup. Their 3-1 win over Croatia looks good on paper, but was filled with controversial refereeing decisions. They then went on to a 0-0 draw against Mexico. They were better against a poor Cameroon side, but then had to go to penalties to beat Chile. This is not the best ever Brazilian team, but they are the home team and look sure to get the rub of the green.

Colombia have been a revelation at this World Cup. They started with 3-0 win over Greece, and folwed with 2-1 win over Ivory Coast.  They then beat Japan 4-1 in their final group match. In the first knock out round, they beat a Uruguay side sans Suarez. Uruguay had looked ordinary without Suarez, so that wasn’t really much of a surprise.

Head 2 Head

These teams have met on 12 previous occasions. There have been 7 Brazilian wins and 5 draws. The last 5 meeting have all ended as draws, but the last meeting was as far away as 2008. In the 12 matches Colombia have only scored 3 goals to Brazils 20. But again in the last 4 matches, dating back to 2004, there have only been 2 goals. One for each team.

Team News

Brazil: Luiz Gustavo got a red card in the match against Chile and will miss this match.

Colombia: The team should be at full strength.
