Here is our Inter Milan v AS Roma preview for this weekends match.

This is our analysis of the Inter v Roma Serie A match-up, undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Italian league season so far, given that Roma have exceeded all expectations, winning six out of six league games to top the embryonic Serie A table. Inter are also unbeaten, and will be keen to close the gap on the early leaders with a victory here.

Team and Selection News

Inter will be without two veteran defenders for this fixture, as both the Romanian Christian Chivu, and the Argentine utility man Javier Zanetti will miss out. Both Maicon and Adem Ljajic may be unavailable for Roma due to minor knocks, but both will face late fitness tests in order to find out whether they could be available. The Roman side would particularly like to have Ljajic available, as the Serbian has been a key part of their team thus so far this campaign, scoring in both of their last two league victories.

Despite their 100% record so far this season, Roma would probably settle for a point here, as the San Siro is never an easy place to visit. The game will probably be decided in midfield, where Roma’s trio of Strootman, de Rossi and Pjanic looks as good on paper as most midfields in Europe, and indeed has done a tremendous job both of shielding their defence and creating chances at the other end. Inter Milan have an inordinate amount of Argentinians in their current squad, and will be hoping that top scorer Rodrigo Palacio can inspire them. Nonetheless, I can see this one ending up with a close fought victory for Roma, with a draw a close second choice.
