Welcome to our Manchester City vs Liverpool preview. This is without doubt the biggest game of Boxing Day, as first plays third at the Etihad Stadium. If people are not entirely convinced by Liverpool’s title credentials as of yet, then they are about to receive an extreme test against a team that has literally decimated all visitors to their home turf in the Premier League so far this season. If the Reds come through this game unscathed then it will be impossible to write them off as genuine title challengers, in my humble opinion.

Team and Selection News

It seems highly likely that Liverpool will stick with the eleven which won their previous Premier League fixture by three goals to one, with both Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge both still absent with relatively long-term injuries. It is possible that Daniel Agger could come into contention for a central defence berth. Manchester City have lots of options in midfield, and both James Milner and Jesus Navas are pushing for inclusion after scoring at Fulham. Aleksandar Kolarov could also come into contention. However, Manuel Pellegrini will probably stick to the staring eleven which played against Fulham, with Joe Hart restored to the City goal. Matija Nastasić is not yet ready to return.
