Qualifying Campaign

Ukraine had an excellent qualifying campaign, scoring twenty-eight goals and conceding four and accumulating twenty-one points in total from ten matches. They finished second in their group to England by one point. France were ousted at the group stage by Spain. They scored fifteen goals and conceded six in Group I and accumulated 17 points from eight matches.

Team and Selection News

The Ukraine have a couple of minor injuries coming into this fixture, but all of their most important performers will be available. Their experienced midfield of Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Oleh Husyev and Ruslan Rotan are all likely to start; the trio have a combined caps haul of 290. France obviously have a much greater pool of players to choose from, and have omitted Gourcuff and Matuidi from their squad. Coach Didier Deschamps will have a selection dilemma up front between Olivier Giroud of Arsenal and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid.
